Schoolies on the Gold Coast
We have developed this page for you if you are finishing your secondary education in Australia and are considering participating in, what is now an institution to Australian school leavers, Schoolies on the Gold Coast.
Schoolies week comes to the Gold Coast during November, and doesn't leave until sometime in December. The official dates differ state by state, year by year to co-incide with the end of exams, so make sure you ask around to get your dates right. Here are some tips about the event.
Make sure you book your surfboard early. Our surfboards typically are hired out really quickly coming into summer. During Schoolies, thousands of fit young aussies who love the surf, descend on our shores to have a massive beach party. Of course they want surfboards. So call us on 0432 742 560 today to make sure you reserve your board. You can view our surfboards here.
There are plenty of opportunities available for cheap accommodation on the Gold Coast. So do some homework to get the best deal. We have set up an accommodation search on our hotel reservations page which we recommend you try first. We have more tips to help you on our cheap accommodation page. So try there if you are still struggling.
Here are some guidelines of how hotels and apartment managers should treat you. Make sure you are aware of them so you don't get a hard deal
- Avoid the dangers of schoolies week
Lets face it, no matter where you go to have a good time, when you have large crowds, alcohol, and a festive spirit, someone will be wanting to start a fight with you and spoil your week. Its a fact that you are over 7 times more likely to get king hit on schoolies on the Gold Coast, than anywhere else. So be careful. Keep an eye on all your mates, especially when you all start drinking. And if someone is targeting you, just walk away. Its not worth it. You'll only ever have 1 Scoolies week!
- There is an agenda of organised events
There is typically a day program and night program of organised entertainment. So make sure you find out whats going on to maximise your time there and get the most out of your holiday. Make sure you register for schoolies, so you can access the schoolies only events. There is nothing worse than when you lose the babe or hunk you've been tuning because they can get entry but you can't. Here is the link
- Have a ball
Unless you are a toolie, this is the only time you will ever experience the festivities of Schoolies week. So make sure you and your crew have a ball. Make full use of the volunteers, entertainment and surf which is on offer. Good times!
