Tropical Fruit World

One of our clients returned the surfboard he rented for the week and was raving about this place called Tropical Fruit World up at Duranbah. I must admit, I was pretty dubious about it. I looked it up and it seemed to be nothing more than a fruit farm.

So I decided to wait till my parents came up to visit for a weekend in May and take them. That way I could check it out myself without having to let any of my mates know. I have to admit, at the end of the day, my opinion had changed. This is definately one of the hidden treasures of the Gold Coast. If you have half a day to a day spare on your next holiday here, this is definately one of the Gold Coast attractions I'd recommend you see.

Yes, I know, the place is a fruit farm. You do get taken through the farm and learn about different types of fruit. As a meat-a-tarian myself I understand this is not the most selling of points for a tourist attraction. But it isn't as bad as it sounds, particularly given there are some pretty intersting fruits out there. For example, there are some that taste like chocolate, banana bubble gum and lemon maringue pie. It sure gave me a new respect for these healthy foods.

Further, your day is peppered with activities that are not really advertised, but do make the day an absolute pleasure. Don't get me wrong here, this is not an adrenaline packed day. You can go to Dream World or Sea World for that. This is one of the things that really stands Tropical Fruit World apart from the other Gold Coast attractions though, its a low energy, cruisey, relaxing day. It will prove to be a delightful pleasure in an otherwise adventure packed holiday.

Tropical Fruit World definately gets our recommendation as a destination on the Goldy, particularly for families or young couples who are looking to spend a day, relaxing in each others company.
