you can Take this camera anywhere: Its waterproof, cold resistant and shockproof

Your life as a surfer can take you anywhere. So Canon has developed a digital water camera that is durable enough to travel to the corners of all oceans with you, and take the surf photos that will have all your friends dying with envy. It’s the PowerShot D10. This little unit is waterproof down to 33 feet (or 10m) so you can take it scuba diving, snorkeling or surfing. However it is also freeze proof and as such, is operational even during the extremes of temperature. This means you can also take it snowboarding or skiing if you so desire. What's more, it’s shockproof to 4 feet. This means that it can withstand many wipeouts, in the water or on the snow. What more could you ask for? Well...

customizable accessories help get the camera out the back

One of the challenges with surf photography is getting the camera out into the lineup. That's where Canon have given some thought. This camera has a selection of versatile accessories (sold separately) which let you set up the camera to meet your paddling requirements. It has a customized strap which is a perfect for paddling as it keeps your camera within easy reach, yet also keeps your hands free. There is also a carabiner hook option which lets you suspend the D10 from a belt, backpack or diving harness. I wonder if you could use this on a legrope or leash?

water camera technological advantages

This camera uses Canon's DIGIC 4 Image Processor - Canon’s most advanced image processor. This delivers evolved Face Detection Technology that keeps every face in every photo looking its very best. The technology finds and tracks the faces of moving subjects until you’re ready to shoot, then delivers perfect focus. How ideal is this when taking a photo of your best friend who is riding a wave? In addition, exposure, flash and white balance are compensated, so that faces invariably show natural skin tones and backgrounds are properly exposed.

DIGIC 4 also controls the compensation level where areas are too dark. It automatically brightens these dark areas while leaving bright areas unchanged. This really makes for better images where the main subject is dark. Think of how this application would work under water, in the tube, or just given the variation of sun angles while you are taking that snap.

We all know how unstable we are when sitting on a surfboard. The PowerShot D10 has a feature to help you here too. I has an ISO 1600 setting which reduces the effects of camera shake and sharpens subjects in low-light situations. Along with the Optical Image Stabilizer Technology that automatically detects and corrects camera shake --one of the leading causes of fuzzy or blurred shots-- which means that even when fully zoomed in, you can get the steady, crisp, brilliant images. This feature functions perfectly with or without a flash.

12.1 megapixels, plus 3x optical zoom lens with Optical Image Stabilizer

21.1 mexapixels is massive. It simply means you can create impressively large photos of you’ll be proud to display. The high-resolution images taken by the D10 can be enlarged up to 13 x 19 inches, imagine the perfect barrel adorning your wall, with all photographic credits going to you.

Here Is What Another Owner Has To Say ABout It:

D Bell
I've been playing with my new Powershot D10 for about a week and really like it. I have been using Canon SLRs for 25+ years, AE1 Program, A1, Elan 7e, and Digital Rebel. When I started looking for a waterproof camera to take snorkeling, my first choice was Canon, based on my many years of satisfaction with their products, and I was very lucky that this camera was released two weeks before leaving for vacation...
