Surfing Holidays - For The Traveling Surfer

As you can probably tell by now, at Gold Coast Surfboards we are 100% about surf travel, specifically your travel to Australia's Gold Coast. We love to surf, we love to travel, we love our surfing holidays. And we are guessing you do too, which is why you are coming to the Gold Coast, and probably why you have found our website. With that in mind, we have constructed this page for traveling surfers, so you can more easily navigate our website with the intent of making the most out of you next surf trip here.

Pre Holiday Considerations

The first thing you will want to consider, is your level of fitness when you arrive on the Gold Coast. Everyone surfs more when they are on a surfing holiday than they do at home. Its just the way it is. As such, you may want to consider doing some extra fitness work, to get your surfing muscles specifically conditioned for the additional surfing you will do.

Note, I am not talking about general fitness here, I am talking about surf specific conditioning. That is the problem with 95% of the gym workouts your trainer will give you. The will be too general. While making you look and feel fitter, they will not have an impact on your surfing. That is why we

recommend the 12 week Total Surfing Fitness program. It is a fitness program designed specifically with the surfer in mind. Its the program I use when I want to give my surfing fitness a jump start.

The second thing you'll need to consider is your surfboard. Are you going to bring your own surf board, risking damaging it on your flight, all the while paying the big dollars which the airlines now charge to carry surfboards as luggage? Or are you just going to find the board that most closely matches yours, from our ever growing surfboard quiver, and put a reservation on it so you know it will be here waiting for you when you arrive. No risks, no hassles, just the board you want to ride. We'll leave that one for you to decide. Just email us here

While You Are Here

We always recommend a coaching session early on in your holiday, time permitting of course. The simple reason is that no matter what your level of surfing is, you will be in the water for days on end. If you have a coaching session and pick up just 1 point that will improve your surfing, you have the rest of your holiday to concentrate on that point, cementing it into your style before you forget it.

Surfing holidays are the perfect opportunity to radically improve your skill level due to the extra time you spend in the water. What better way to do this, than by starting your holiday by getting a few specific pointers from an experienced coach. Note, we are not talking about a big group lesson on the foam boards here. We are talking about 1 on 1 coaching. Here is some more info on our Surf Coaching Services

You are up here on holiday, you want to surf, we have the perfect souvenir for you to take home. We know you'll love it.

Why don't you consider getting our surf photographer out, to snap you while you are at your best. You'll get to take home a magazine quality surf photo of yourself deep, carving it up, or however you want it. Its not just the pros who surf good enough for these types of photos and our photographer Brad K knows this. This is why he specifically wants to capture your moments. Other Considerations

Here are some other things you may want to consider, click on the blue hyperlinks to access the additional information you need:

  • Research our beaches and stay somewhere close to where you want to surf. The Gold Coast is a massive stretch of beach, over 100kms if you go far enough south. And if you are not close to the break you want to surf, you'll need to organise car hire.
  • What is your accommodation budget? Are your looking for a hotel, or a cheaper accommodation option?
  • What time of the year are you coming. Is there any major event that will interest you, or get in the way of your holiday? Have a look at our calendar of Gold Coast events for more information
  • You can't surf all the time, do you want to check out some of the Gold Coast's attractions?
